The West Columbia, Texas, city council set off brouhaha with a resolution asking the city attorney to draft an ordinance banning pit bulls and Rottweilers within the city. Over a period of three days eleven residents from near and far wrote to the local newspaper voicing opposition to the resolution. One interesting note: not one of the letters was from someone living in West Columbia. During this same period only four letters were on other topics.
Since Texas law prohibits legislation that is specific to any one breed, The Insomniac wonders if Rotts and Pits are also guaranteed the same constitutional rights afforded enemy combatants. Hopefully no dogs will be waterboarded or sent to Gitmo and that Humane Officers do not act stupidly when confronted by a growling dog.
